Re: [Digital BW] Epson printer comparisons plus inks

I'm actually as anxious as you are.
We have been using IP with our 10000 an are very happy with it. Colorbyte has been very responsive to all questions and their free custom profiles are excellent.
This copy of IP is on my personal dime so I would have been very hesitant if we hadn't had the very good experience with them.
I've ordered lots of carts (Atlex has a great price) and Enhanced Matte and expect to do a bunch of comparison printing and testing this week with both RGB and gs images.
More to follow.

  Stanley-

please please please please post some feedback with IP5 and your 2200. I
have a 2200, and I am waiting to hear from the masses as to a few
  things:

are the profiles worth the investment?
  how are the b&w prints?
  toned b&w prints?
  support?

We are all dying to know!

  Thanks in advance

  Andy

        Bill:
        I'm using a 1270 with CIS and GEN4 pigs. My 2200 and IP5 comes
  tomorrow.
I have just printed a variety of color and GS images for
  comparison.
More as I get the new printer in place and working.

I am looking for feedback from anyone who has used MIS Archival
  inks
        in a 1270/1280/7000 and now is using a 2200/7600.

For paper I use mostly EAM on the low end and Han Photo Rag 308
  on
        the high end..

Though I do some color, I usually print from black and white
  scanned
negatives. I print them out as warm or cool black and white or
heavily toned using the MIS inks.

I am thinking that the new printers with the Epson inks may be
  the
answer for what I want with a reasonable archival life. When
  the
printers get chipped, then I could use the MIS inks again if I
  didn't
        like the results.

What are your feelings about the quality/cost differences using
  these
two combinations of inks and printers as they are currenty
  available?
