Steve,

In the PS color settings "Gray" should  be set to "Gray gamma 2.2" and RGB
set to Adobe RGB or sRGB so that your grayscale and color working spaces
have the same gamma. If there is a gamma setting in the Epson print driver
it should be set to 1.8.
