Jerry, If you are dedicating the new printer for b/w, the 1280 is a better choice. It is supposed to be faster than the 2000P. There is no shortage of pigmented b/w inks you can get. The only advantage the 2000P would have (IMO) is being able to print pigmented (light fast) b/w prints with color inks........but then it is difficult to get prints without color casts. The 2000P inks are also notoriously prone to metamerism. Good luck.
