With my limited funds I have the option of buying either a new Epson 1280 or
a slightly used, but in excellent condition, Epson 2000P. I want to have a
dedicated B/W printer, I already have an Epson C80 that I like as well. I am
pretty familiar with the 1280 but know nothing about the 2000. I would be
interested in the pros and cons of each option.

Jerry,

If you are dedicating the new printer for b/w, the 1280 is a better
choice. It is supposed to be faster than the 2000P. There is no
shortage of pigmented b/w inks you can get. The only advantage the
2000P would have (IMO) is being able to print pigmented (light fast)
b/w prints with color inks........but then it is difficult to get
prints without color casts. The 2000P inks are also notoriously
prone to metamerism.

Good luck.
