Firstly I really dislike the Nikon Scan interface. Also I find it very
inconsistent. And although not a B&W issue but still important is that
Nikon Scan is notorious for very poor color management and handling,
which leads back to my inconsistent comment. Jeff Schewe and Andrew
Rodney went off on this aspect for a spell at the San Francisco DIFP
(Digital Imaging for Photographers) workshop.

I find Vuescan much more straight forward and I find much more
consistent and more "spot on", sometimes on the first preview scan.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
