Bernie:

What work flow are you using on your 1160 -- PiezoBW, Woolf, 
Randall, ???.

If you intend to use either of the Epson workflows with your 1290, 
you will need to get the FS-E hex inksets where the Pc and Pm inks 
are 3:1 dilutions of the C and M inks, respectively while the regular 
FS hex inkset for the PiezoBW workflow has only 4 ink shades C=Pc and 
M=Pm.  

You will need to call MIS to see if they have the FSN-E hex inkset.

If you intend to use the PiezoBW workflow with your 1290, then you 
probably shouldn't have problems.  

Quality is arguably similar between 1160 and 1290, but your milage 
may vary.
