I don't know about your state, but in MA, I have gone to small claims court
against a large company, like MCI, and not only sought my $26 but tacked on
a $500 "legal fees" expense...and since they simply didn't show up in court,
the court gave me a default judgment for $500 plus $26 plus the court filing
fee of $14...and MCI HAD to pay it, and they did.
