Is the mis-fed sheet the only sheet in the printer at the time, Bruce? Whether the paper is relatively thick or not, I think it feeds more reliably if there is what Epson calls (in English) a "Loading Support Sheet" on the bottom of the short stack on which you're going to print. They supply one with at least some of their paper. But I often just use a sheet or EAM/EEM or Museo or the thicker Eclipse on which I've printed a draft. Anything which raises the sheet(s) on which I want to print seems to work. You're right, I believe, in thinking the paper setting isn't implicated. But using the plus/heavy setting does seem to have caused some "overspray" problems for at least some people. I think I remember that being reported mostly about the 1280, but I have the mis-feeding problems on my 1160s as you have on your 1280.
