Re: [Digital BW] Run PS6 & 7?

2003-01-10 by jim hayes <jimhayes@frii.com>

I've run both version 7 and 6 on Win2000 SP3 AND 7, 6 and ver 5.5 on
Win 98SE. You just can't run more than one version at the same time,
you have to close one.

I've chosen the "upgrade" path since version 2.5 and I've always been
able to have more than one version, be it on Win95 or Win 3.11

I just make sure that for each version I meet the requirements, such
as minimum processor, RAM, OS, etc., often I can't find these stated
anywhere but on the actual box.

I can't tell you whether ver 7 is worth it for you or not. For me, if
all they did was just add the healing brush it would have been more
than worth it. On some of my film negatives, I get 200-1200 seperate
dust specks to spot out on each frame. The healing brush goes at least
five times faster than the rubber stamp. Easier too, I can be more
sloppy.

And the enhancements to the brushes are mind-boggling. Almost moving
in the direction of "Painter" ver 5.5 the last one I upgraded to. Not
quite there yet, close. Tablet features like tilt are more integrated
and choosable in the brushes pallette. It's a lot to get used to, they
added a lot in the brushes pallette.

You mention many good advantages of ver 6 over 5.x, but perhaps the
biggest by far was better color management organization.
