Re: [Digital BW] 2100/2200 magenta shift problem

2003-01-20 by Tanja Schoutens

Hey,
I had made some BW-prints too with the 2100/2200. First I though also 'what's that... magenta!?'. But when I went outside (for daylight) to take a look at those prints, they where perfectly black&white!!!
Daylight gives you the perfect view at your print.
(The maximum for a print on this kind of paper is 1440 dpi.)

One my customer tried to print old BW photos with a warm tone on
Epson Stylus Photo 2100. He used Archival Matte Paper (Enhanced MP).
The problem was that the print outs were pink, there was very strong
shift to magenta.

I have try to check setup of printer, I have use several printing
methods including custom ICC profiles from net, which work very well
with my 2100. Allways magenta shift.

I have try to compare printing from my 2100 and his 2100 - both from
his computer, with the same USB cable and with identical setup. And
there I discovered an interesting thing - printer with magenta shift
has dimmed (no active) 2880 dpi in advanced setup. Another things
were identical - including firmware version.

I have check this with another customer, which has the identical
problem and his printer connected by FireWire has 2880 dimmed too.

Those who has identical problem - may you check, please, this problem
and dimmed 2880 dpi in driver?

Is there any reason? Is there any solution?

TIA

Martin
