Digital BW, The Print

Using the 1280/VM MIS is not practical for me. After living with it 
for 11 months, having to clear nozzles every day in my dry climate at 
altitude, - well it just is not a pragmatic solution.

I've been using the 2200/IP5 for over two months now. I've had just a 
few instances of banding caused by nozzles going out in middle of 
print. So I had to reprint a total of five or six prints TOPS. The 
nozzles are almost always clear, I think I've had to run maybe four 
cleaning cycles on the 2200 in 2 1/2 months as opposed to 20-40 in 
same time frame on the  1280/VM (as a guess). And that's all. Truely, 
this printer Works in my environment, and I have finally found a 
solution that is practical. I can turn it off for a few days and I 
won't have serious clogging like I certainly would with 1280/VM.

I'm starting to suspect that the head is designed differently, maybe 
with fewer right angle turns, or ?

The 2200 ink carts may be more $, but in the long run cheaper (for me) 
than the VM ink, as I had to waste a lot clearing nozzles and throwing 
away CFS units that went belly up, chips that would get zapped, etc.

It is true that the 1280/VM inkset/Paul's workflow gives dotless 
highlights and some dots are visible in the IP5 prints- but you have 
to look very hard to see this. It's well worth trading this and the 
high cost of IP5 for a printer that just plain physically works in a 
dry high altitude environment.
