I think these new 100% pigment inks may be a little less forgiving of printer defects than the older inks. With the 7500, which I've heard is close to just being a large 1200, I can induce banding with curves that are written in "wrong" (meaning that it is not as tolerant of some of the manipulations I'd otherwise use). Hopefully the 1200 curves and average 1200 will be fine. Eddie, you wrote: >I'm probably pushing the envelope here, but how about a >UC VMS 4.3XXX "SEPIA" version that will work with my 1160??.. It might be in the cards later. The new Vm has a much warmer warm end. It's not as dark as the vm-s could go, but I'm going to live with it for a while to see if the one inkset can do it all. I'm sure, however, that some will want a full-on sepia. I'll have to search for a good base gray ink. The light black MIS UC clone ink used in the UC VM 4.3 is warmer than I'd like for a starting point for a vm-s inkset. The vm-s gray needs to be slightly cool. I don't like to add any more pigment than necessary to get to that point. A very warm starting point means the use of too much color pigment. I have a couple of more neutral candidates for a starting point, but have not had the time to test them. Now, as a monochrome sepia, the UC light black is so warm it would make a perfect starting point -- and that is what I might do. In fact, I might mix a gray that is sepia and see if the blue toner can pull it all the way to neutral without unacceptable dots showing. Paul http://www.PaulRoark.com
