Digital BW, The Print

John...i dl David Schecter's curve and i'm using "Phot Quality Glossy
Film" as advised. However my results are disappointing - images are
quite flat and lack the contrast and "sparkle" I was getting with black
only printing. Have you found you needed to make any further adjustments
to Randalls workflow or the curves? Any suggestions?

David Schecter adapted the Randall curve for the 740 last October (see
msg 21196) 
-- it's posted under Files > Ink Sets > MIS > MIS FS (at least it was
there when I last 
looked). This version, which uses "Photo Quality Glossy Film" as the
media option, 
provides prints with a tonal character that's essentially the same as
what the 1160 
produces -- the only real difference I've seen between prints from these
two printers is 
that the ones from the 740 don't have the 1160's fine higher-tone
smoothness (probably 
because of the 740's larger dots)-- but I found that this was only
occasionally an issue.  
"Photo Quality Glossy Ink" lays down a little less ink than "Photo
Quality Ink Jet".

  replicate is the selection of "Matt Paper - Heavyweight" - it is 
  simply not an option in my printer driver (XP). I choose "Photo 
  Quality Ink Jet Paper". Is this limiting my results? If so how do I 
  change my driver to get this paper option?
