Paul, I would think this would make many users quite unhappy. I have in front of me 12 cone prints, a set of 4 prints each using their Museum Black, Portfolio Black, and Black Black, with different inksets, warm neutral, cool neutral, Selenium, and carbon sepia. All prints are excellent when using the "black black" ink. The Museum black is a shade lighter than the portfolio black, and about 2 shades lighter than the black black. So I guess it's still the VM inkset for me, but exchanging the enhanced Gen 4 black for the one that MIS will be supplying. The piezotones with the black black are excellent, but I suppose their black black isn't all that stable. There are just too many blacks out there now. Can't keep up. Is there any way to tell how good Cone's black black is good for in years? And if one bought the Selenium tone inkset and you used Enhanced Gen 4 black, would that change the tones of the entire print? like crossovers? Do you have an Epson 2200 printer yet, and if so, what inks are you using in it? I have a 1280 that I cannot get rid of the slight banding in random areas, so I suppose I'll have to replace it fairly soon. It looks exactly like not enough ink is being laid down on the paper. I've tried plain paper and PQIJ settings, but it doesn't help. I've cleaned the printer using every known method. It just won't go away. If the new Canon used pigments, I'd probably try it, but I don't want to be among the first to try that! Jerry Jerry > Eboni and Museum black are about the same.
