Digital BW, The Print

This is my first post post here, please bear with me.  

I'd like to start doing digital BW printing.  Do I buy a Epson 1280, or a 2200 (and hope a more then duotone inkset comes out in the near future), a 3000 (seems out of the question due to banding problems) or a Canon S9000 (if thats the model supported, in hopes of being able to more easly deal with clogging)?

Do I buy buy the Piezography software or should I purchase the Image Print RIP?  Am I thinking about this correctly?
