Unabashed OPM/IJC Rave

2003-04-22 by nick90290

After two weeks of endless printing and experimentation, I have to
say that the OPM/IJC software, especially on the 2200, has proven to
be something of a Godsend.

The difference in printing sepia prints on the 2200 through the Epson
Print Driver, and through OPM, is huge. With the Epson Print Driver,
I still get those subtle but horrible red/green transitions in
mid-tones - no true sepia at all. With the OPM in action, I get
perfect sepia prints, where I can control the exact color of the
sepia. The results are fantastic. Just like the best darkroom print
at
last, but with more control.

On the 1280, the results are also beautiful, occasionally even subtly
better due to the smaller dots in the highlights. But the downsides
are you're confined to the sepia color that is the MIS Sepia - really
nice, but for me, I personally want something a little warmer/more
chocolatey.
Also, of course, the 2200 is 3-4 times faster.

Also, Joe at Bowhaus has now fixed the black banding problem, so
everything seems set to churn out endless great prints..............
