Sorry for asking a newbie question I'm sure has been asked many times, but. I'm new to the B/W inksets, but have used Mediastreets Enhanced Generations Inks for quite some time. I want to use a CFS for my B/W's also. I use the Epson 1280 for color & I am buying another 1280 for my B/W's. When I first started looking into the B/W inks I was aware of the Cone inks & system but not familiar with the MIS inks & the curves such as yours. I was planning on buying into the Cone system, but have since been thinking the MIS ink route would be preferred. The person that directed me to the MIS inks had previously used the Cone inks & has switched to the FS Neutral inks & prefers them. My thoughts are the Ultra-Tone inks are the way to go, the fact of being able to print Matte (which I mainly use) or gloss, plus what seems like better longevity (than some of the other MIS inks) and to be able to print variable tones appeals to me. A few people are telling me that I might be better off going with the Full Spectrum inks and using the Image Export Plug in. They say that the Ultra-Tones & Variable Inks would be harder to get consistent prints. My thoughts are the curves should be consistent from print to print. I'm also trying to decide which of the blacks would best serve me. Longevity & deep blacks are both important to me & I would like to find the best compromise between the two. By judging from prints I see on the different websites I think I lean to a B/W print in the Neutral range. I certainly would appreciate any insight you might be able to lend me. I will be very grateful for any advice that might save me time & headaches
