The chips are cracked, the carts are copied, the ink is there,
there's just one problem: that nice millennium act on digital
copyright protection DMCA can be used to protect carts and that
is what Epson and Lexmark have done. I guess we have to wait what
the Lexmark case will end in before third parties bring Epson
Ultrachrome carts + resetters on the market. It is just that
small piece of text that appears on your printer's display
telling you what ink is in. Digital copyright acts can then be
used as if the great American novel has been written.
