Matthew,

On EEM/EAM Eboni is darker than the older VM black. Eboni is a pure pigment
ink, so it will not reach the depths of the dye or hybrid inks, but it is
extremely stable and black enough for me.

I don't think any of the RC papers are perfect or even where I'd want to use
them for most of my printing. However, like the Epson UltraChrome inks, the
MIS Ultra-Tone B&W inks will adhere to the RC surfaces. I don't think
either inkset does as well on RC papers as the dye inksets. There are
artifacts of one sort or another on almost all of the papers. Usually one
can see some "bronzing" or other reflective artifact. I've seen some slight
dusting on a few papers with the UT inkset.

The only paper that I've seen that doesn't seem to have any artifacts is the
Epson Glossy Photo Paper (which I bought at Costco). However, with this
paper the dmax is a modest 1.8. Better than matte papers, but not up to the
2.0+ that some papers can get.

I found the Ilford Smooth Pearl to be one of the better papers so far, and
it's not as expensive as many of the supposedly top tier RC papers.
