Digital BW, The Print

Hello All,

I have printed traditional B&W years ago and now I am getting back 
into it but digitally.  

Where is the best place to pick up some tips and techniques?  I have 
been trying to print via the printer but it just doesn't seem to look 
right.  The prints look a little flat, doesn't have the pop as a 
silver print.  Maybe it is just me.  For color they come out dead on.

But I am having a heck of a time with B&W.  Please advise where one 
can go to get a ton of info / tips / techniques on this topic.

Also I have a 1270 printer and 7600 printer.  I am planning on 
converting the 1270 to a dedicated B & W printer.  What inks would 
one use for the 1270 and long print life is also important in the 
decision.
