Digital BW, The Print

Hi, since I have started archival b&w printing on an Epson 1160 with 
MIS - FS mostly - I have always printed with the Epson driver out of 
PS. However I keep reading hymns of praise about Qimage. I remember 
having tried out an evaluation version of Qimage some time ago, but I 
found the program hardly understandable to use and gave up quickly. 

So my question is: Could one achieve better results when printing - 
avter having applied the curves for the inks in PS - out of Qimage?

Has anyone had good results with this?
