Re: Best overall setup for glossy/RC look?

2003-09-04 by mccarvill

Doug,

Nice to hear from a fellow glossy printer! I'm very satisfied with
the prints I'm getting using the following setup:

- Ultra-tone inks with photo black
- Epson 1280: printing at 2880, no color adjustment, premium glossy
paper setting, Epson driver
- Roark UT curves (really like the cool curve: ut80-c+3)
- Pictorico photo gallery glossy paper. No other paper I've tried has
been bronze-free.
- I've also removed the rollers that used to cause "pizza
wheel"
marks on my prints (a real issue on glossy papers).

There's still room for improvement, so I'm working on a transfer
curve to improve the separation in the 90% - 100% range.

I'm hoping some other glossy printers will come forward with their
workflows because I'd be interested in learning from them – and
to
see if there's any interest in a glossy-only print exchange
sometime.

Cheers,

Mark
