I think it is the 13" printer of choice now for B&W.

I'll let others answer this.  As with all "canned" profiles, there can be
differences between printers.  The more curves that are available, the
better.  Also, learning to tweak the curves for the paper you prefer and
your printer will improve things.

The only problem I had with my 1280 was apparently due to the residual dye
from the original color inkset on the pads causing nuisance clogs.  The
Eboni (matte) black is apparently affected by dyes.  Once I rinsed the pads,
the problem disappeared.
