I use the Canon AE-1 and it's a great camera.  Very good quality if you
don't mind manual focus.  I also usually use manual exposure, but the auto
mode seems to work well.

Keep in mind that to get these images into your computer you will really
want a filmscanner and they cost between 600-2000 for really good ones.  The
Poloroid scanner is being replace by a new model soon and last years model
is selling for something like $599 and it is capable of making excellent
scans from slides or negs.  It can scan a 4000dpi.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
