Frank:

The only thing I can think of to try (and it's a long shot) is to 
clean the bottom of the printhead.  They do get very dirty.  The 
general procedure using a paper towel and Windex can be obtained by 
emailing Arthur Entlich.  He inhabits the Yahoo Epson group at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EPSON_Printers/

Art's manual is a very good compilation of how tos for keeping your 
Epson up and running.

Various cleaning methods have also been discussed in this forum.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
