I don't have a sample handy, but the Velvet Fine Art, as I recall, is a
cotton paper with the EEM coating -- but it has more texture, almost like
Somerset Velvet.

Compared to EEM, the Moab paper actually has a brighter coating.  Strange
that the newest "non-optical-brightened" papers have coatings that are,
according to the "visual" reading of my X-Rite, brighter than OB'd papers.
In normal viewing in my office with fluorescent lights, I still think the
OB-brighten PhotoRag is whiter, but the Moab and PremierArt papers are
brighter than EEM.

The Moab paper is very smooth.  The texture on the surface is barely more
than with EEM.  It's very close to the smooth side of Eclipse Satine.

By the way, the OB's version of Moab's Entrada Fine Art has an extremely
white, cool surface, reading the same 0.02 visual brightness, but with the
yellow channel reading a -0.01.  It's reading is the same as Eclipse Satine
Bright White (smooth side), but I'd say the Eclipse still looks just a hair
brighter under fluorescent lights.  In general, the brightened Moab paper
looks very much like Eclipse Satine.  Both print cold compared to others.  A
"medium-warm" PremierArt curve would produce a neutral print on Entrada Fine
Art (brightened -- the other has "Natural" in the name) and Eclipse.  I'll
make one today if time permits.

I just printed an Eclipse Satine and found that it reached 1.64 dmax,
compared to the 1.61 I'm getting with the Entrada papers.  This higher
Eclipse dmax rather surprised me in light of past performances, but it's not
just my X-Rite.  The Eclipse 100% black patch looks slightly darker also.
(I'm printing with Ultra Tone inks with the Eboni black [same as Cone Museum
black as far as I can tell].)

Again, while I would not rate these Entrada papers as my favorites, I think
they are good and a very good value.  I'd say they occupy the market niche
that Eclipse once held.

Since the Epson/PremierArt papers seem to use the same basic profiles as
Entrada and Eclipse, I'll make more of this family of curves so that we have
as much competition as possible in the cotton paper market.
