Cara-

Pretty much all the photo editing software will convert color images 
into B&W images for printing.  You want to look in your software for 
the DESATURATE command to accomplish this.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
