MIS has posted a little tutorial for modifying curves that Dirk Hobman wrote
(I edited and supplied some files and forms). It's in the MIS "What's new"
tab at:
http://www.inksupply.com/index.cfm?source=html/whatsnew.html

It might be useful to you.

Right you are, I should have thought of that.

I'm a noob in the dark with this stuff, trying to
retrofit curves from one printer to another. So far I
have only applied the neutral curves to the test
patterns. I combined "21-Step+.jpg", "100 step 1 line
greyscale strip.jpg", "100-step wedge, 8bit,
Grayscale.jpg", "OffsetGrad8.jpg" into one file and
used that for the testing.

What I have found is that the 1270 curves, both mac
and pc, produce a pronounced stepped gradiant, with
steps at 90% and 65%. The 1270 curves also are much
flatter between 65-75% and 40-60%.

The 1280 curves seem to be much better at spreading
the range around, although a much less pronounced step
is visible at 65% and 90%. The 1280 pc curve does not
go pure white (that is, no ink) at 0%, while the
1280mac curve does.

Interesting stuff. It takes a fine eye and lots of
ink to get these right I imagine ;) I'll try the warm
curves next, since those ones produces the most
trouble in the output.

Thanks for the help and pointers ;)
