Digital BW, The Print

I need to print photo quality continuous tone BW prints (8x10) and have been
using an older Epson 860 with Lyson inks.   I also use an Epson 870 with
Epson inks and think the 870 (6-color) to have slightly smoother tonality,
especially in the high tones.   I'm looking to upgrade and would appreciate
all information/thoughts from those on the group.  I'm looking at the 960,
which is 6 color 2 picos or the very new r800 which uses the ultrachrome
inks and is 1.5 picos.

Any thoughts on either one of these?  Is anyone using the 960 for BW and any
comments?
