Given the way that MSFT QA's non MSFT written drivers this advice is 100% true. Most of the in-box printer drivers in XP were required to be finished prior to XP shipping. In addition MSFT has restrictions on things like status monitors and other items being included in-box so you will almost always get better features by using the download versions. regards Brentley _____ From: Jerry in Houston [mailto:glewis4457@...] Sent: Thursday, January 22, 2004 17:35 To: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Digital BW] Re: 2200 drivers Paul... for any of the Epson printers (and prob any other brand) I would use the latest driver available on the Epson (or whatever) website. The drivers on XP and the included XP CD are almost never the latest available.... Go to the epson site, check the version numbers, download the latest and use them. Jerry in Houston <<I received the 2200, and my Win XP appeared to have a driver already loaded for it. The appearance of the driver was just like the usual newer Epson drivers. However, the shadow UT2 densities were not smooth. Being curious what the driver on the CD that came with the printer would look like, I loaded that one. Suddenly the shadow tones were smooth. Questions - Has anyone else noticed driver differences? Do most stay with the pre-loaded XP driver or load the one from the CD?>> [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] Please visit the Group Homepage to check the Files, and other resources as they are often being updated. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint If you wish to receive no emails or just a daily digest, or you wish to unsubscribe, please edit your Membership preferences by visiting this same page.
