I finally ordered the 1280 refurbished from Epson after a lot of angst and reading, deciding that I don't need the 2200. From what I've read the UT2 inks seem to be the way to go, though trying to navigate the MIS website is frustrating. I want to experiment with QuadtoneRIP and black-only printing to find what works best for me. Before going to a continuous feed system I want to first start with carts. On http://www.inksupply.com/index.cfm?source=html/ultratone.html there are three carts for UT2: The Eboni black, the Photo black and the Color Cartridge. My understanding is that I need the Eboni black (ARC-T007-UTK) to print on matte papers or the Photo black (ARC-T007-UPK) to print on glossy papers. Then after deciding between these two inks I need to add the "Color cartridge" (ARC-T009-UT2) as the second cart in the printer. So far do I have this right? Assuming I am correct above, if I am using carts should I be able to swap out the Eboni black for the photo black so I can change papers while experimenting? Or does that open a can of worms? But once I go to a continuous feed system does that pretty much lock me into a Eboni black or Photo black world? Thanks, Jim
