RE: [Digital BW] Linux/XP File Recognition

2004-04-22 by Roger L Sopher

Hi Tom,

Rather than having to diddle with the system, another (?easier) way to to
use a USB-2 flash memory drive as the intermediary. You may have to add an
entry to the fstab in Linux but that is pretty straight forward. So the work
flow would be to write the file to the flash memory drive, boot up Linux,
mount the flash memory drive if it didn't automount, and then print away.
The how to for adding a flash memory drive to Linux is:

Subject: [Digital BW] Linux/XP File Recognition

I'm in the process of setting up Roy Harrington's QTR on a Redhat 9
partition. It's a dual boot set up with XP Home in an NTFS
partition. After a few hiccups I'm able to dual boot perfectly now.
I have all the files in place to install QTR and will probably do it
tonight. A question though. I'll be editing the images in Photoshop
CS on the XP partition but am not sure how to transfer them to the
Linux side. I'm thinking of a separate FAT32 partition and save the
images there but don't know how to get Linux to recognize that
partition. Anybody doing this sort of thing? I've looked all over
the place but can't seem to find a definitive answer.

  Thanks,

  Tom
