I'm only partly qualified per your (quite reasonable) standards. :) I am not skilled at PS, but I have it. I have PW Pro. From my limited experience with PS, PWP seems to be more direct than PS in terms of what it takes to accomplish a given task. Presumably that's because it is specifically geared to photo editing, and is not an all-around graphics program like PS. PWP does not use layers. I forget the philosophy behind that. Basically, each change you make is on a separate working file, so you are always working on a new "layer". Although, I know enough PS to know that layers bring more to the table than just that. The Pro version includes color management. It also works with 16 bit BW, 48 bit color. Maybe the plain version does too, I'm not sure on that one. Basically, it is what you surmised. Take a look at Norman Koren's website: www.normankoren.com He goes into a lot of detail on PWP. Also, if you post on the PWP support forum, ask any questions you want. The author of the program is not afraid of saying what PWP can or cannot do and why or why not. -Don M
