Randy, I really don't know how much cooler the original epson black is, but it is a bit colder than Eboni. Eboni prints to the warm side, most noticably when printing BO. The colder Epson ink may be due to additional pigment or dye content added to the black. Anyway, switching from eboni to epson is one method of altering the tone of the black ink.
