After a few iterations of the nozzle cleaning dance, I have what appear (even under 2X magnification) to be perfect check patterns, However, I still get microbands in BO printing. What's really odd is that the first 3-5% of the image is perfect, then the banding starts. Moreover, the good part of the image is a fixed percentage of the total image size, NOT a fixed number of pixels or inches (on a 5x7 it is about 1/2", on a 3x5 it's about half that). In a full color print there is no banding apparent to the naked eye, but it is faint;y visible under 2x mag. I've tried OEM carts also. Now for the even stranger part - there is no banding visible in the black stripe when I print the MIS purge pattern, even on EEM with 1440 DPI! I believe the green cast is a bad cart because the light blue toner ink is more cyan than I remember when I print the purge pattern. Any ideas? It almost seems like a driver problem, but the only thing different is a newer version of OS X (10.3.4 versus 10.3.2? when I last printed with this printer).
