RE: [Digital BW] mis inks in a 2000p

2004-09-01 by Paul Roark

John,

I might be setting up a 2000p for someone soon. I'll let you know how it
goes.

I think at least initially we'll put a monotone MIS UT-FS inkset in it,
probably using the C=FSC, c=FSM, M=FSC, m=FSM and Y=FSY ink distribution.
While a grayscale curve or even a transfer function will probably produce
fine results, I expect an RGB curve will be needed for the best results.

The 2000p apparently uses 1280 carts but needs a different chip.

The printer is very slow compared to most that are used today.

Some believe, however, that there are lots of these printers lying around
unused. As such, it might be a way that people can get a 13" printer on a
very limited budget.

There have been people who set up their own systems with the printer, and
with the older vm inkset I made a set of curves. At least one of 2000p
users did an analysis of dither patterns and concluded that the 2000p was
superior to the 1280 in terms of photographic image quality.

Subject: [Digital BW] mis inks in a 2000p

Is anyone currently using, or at least tried mis inks in a 2000p?
what were/are your results? MIS only sells a bulk system for my
printer, and i can't afford to spend $200 on this system only to
realize that it's a poor combination. And also, are the six ink UT's
compatible with this printer?

 thanks,
john
