Yo Steadman! I just did practically the same thing with my third older 1160 and a set of the original MIS inks. I had the same results. All tests were perfect, and so were the first prints. Mine had set for over 3 months, so I really didn't expect much. I was very pleasantly surprised also. Guess we got a couple of the "good" printers. I suppose if the heads make good contact where they are parked, the seal really is airtight.
