My! Aren't we in an especially good mood tonight! A real pleasure Steadman!
Nice to get a little income from ink efforts to elevate the mood.
My 3000 now sits for long periods without use and I don't get any clogs either
My color 3000 sits for months unused with MIS color pigs and fires right up
too.

Yesterday, I was cheering myself too! First framed prints of mine in a local
framing shop window (3 using Piezo BW, and 3 using Piezo Color... on William
Turner 310 and Photorag 310 respectively). A small step forward, but an
important one for me :)

So for me too... Happy!

Re: [Digital BW] Surprise Surprise....It works beautifully!

2001-11-02 by Tom Keesling

Steve,

I've got the MIS color inks in a 3000, too, but I have experienced
minor problems on 3-4 occasions. If I've printed several sheets and
then let the printer sit idle for a few hours (without turning it
off) and then try printing again, the magenta doesn't start printing
until a couple of inches into the print. It begins gradually and then
within a couple more inches is working fine. Since the problem is
self-correcting, I don't yet know what a nozzle check looks like when
the problem is occuring.

I'm wondering if you (or other list members) have experienced this.

How did you choose between PR and WT? Do you see a colour difference? I see
WR as warmer than PR.

Yo Steadman!

I just did practically the same thing with my third older 1160 and a set
of the original MIS inks. I had the same results. All tests were
perfect, and so were the first prints. Mine had set for over 3 months,
so I really didn't expect much. I was very pleasantly surprised also.
Guess we got a couple of the "good" printers. I suppose if the heads
make good contact where they are parked, the seal really is airtight.

RE: [Digital BW] Surprise Surprise....NOW Paper Choice

2001-11-03 by Nij

hi Julian,

Well, on the B&W I had actually bought a roll of WT 310 just before PR came
out, so I was pretty-much committed. Yes, I second your thoughts on it being
warmer than Photo Rag, but on this occasion, I am very happy with that - the
photos are of Prague and all have a kind of warm-and-worn feel to them. So,
for this I found the warmer tone just right (I even have a couple of images
I might purposefully print onto Somerset Velvet Enh Rad White to push the
warmth / age aspect).

As for the Colour being on PhotoRag, I have to admit that a lot of the
reasoning for this is down to it being a fairly neutral paper to stick
colour on-top of, and I found the Piezo Cone Matte profile a pretty good
hit... I still had nightmares adjusting the tone / colour sof the image
exactly how I wanted, but the screen softproof gave fairly accurate
indications of the print. Somehow, seeing the print is ALWAYS more important
though! The Pigment inks also gave a very good response with 'the colours of
Prague' which are all quite 'earthy' and muted, rich colours.

I think that's it!
