There is a lot of debate about this now. As far as the most critical color work is concerned, the best CRT's such as Lacie, Sony, and Mitsubishi Pro monitors still have a color gamut and contrast edge on LCD's. These are what I use. However, in my opinion, the Apple HD flat screens are certainly "good enough" for serious Photoshop color correction and high- end retouching. In fact, a lot of very serious retouchers use them now and the Apple 22" or 32" screen will be my next monitor because of its great proportion and light weight . They take the place of two monitors for utilizing tools, etc. Size is very important in the long run. If you are on a budget check into www.lacie.com and take advantage of one of the 19" or 22" "refurbished" crt monitors that are a real steal because not only do they have a warranty but also, the last I checked, included a $5.00 total shipping charge. Can't beat that. The Lacie monitors use Sony tubes and have very good software for color calibration and mine have lasted for years without loosing contrast.
