I agree...that's where I will use either FM (if I'm ok with flattening the image at that point - I usually set black point and levels before I do anything else) or USM if I don't like what FM gives me, or need to hang on to my layers. Or, if I'm doing a brightly colors image I might use the high pass method. I usually reserve NIK for the final sharpening after the image has been sized for output, but might use another if I don't like NIK. I think my point is that you really need to have more than one trick up your sleeve and use what looks best...I'll have to check out Photokit - hadn't heard of that one before this thread... -----Original Message----- From: Steve Kale [mailto:stevekale@...] Sent: Saturday, November 06, 2004 12:05 PM To: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [Digital BW] Re: NIK SHARPENER, or Fred Miranda???!!!!! Photokit Sharperner Pro works in 16bit. The issue with a sharpening kit that doesn't work in 16 bit is that you have to convert to 8 bit to do your capture sharpening - before your colour/image adjustments and resizing to print size. Clearly not a satisfactory situation.
