RE: [Digital BW] MIS-UTFS in Ep9000

2004-11-16 by Paul Roark

I'll be loading UT-FSN into my 7500 in about a month. I'll use the CMCMY
ink order and write curves for the 7500, 9500, 7000 and 9000. I can't say
how it works now, not having tried it, but I'm confident it will work fine.

The M-density ink is light enough that in large display prints you'll
probably not find the lack of a Y jet a deal breaker. Also, you could load
C & M inks in the C & LC spots, and M & Y inks the M and LM positions. Then
use RGB curves to distribute the inks. The PiezoTone system has gone to an
ink order similar to this. I prefer the other ink order, in part, because
it gives me an excellent glossy dmax by using the 2 dark grays. This avoids
the problem of having to change black inks. I just leave Eboni matte K in
the printer and can still print on glossy papers.

I'll report on my 7500 UT-FSN progress in about a month.

Subject: [Digital BW] MIS-UTFS in Ep9000

Does anyone use MIS-UTFS in an Epson 9000? I'm having a number of
issues, not the least of which is that my Y chanel will not unclog.
I've had a repair guy in, he swaped out heads and did the maintnance
kit thing but the clog persists even with the new heads! It seems
fairly unlikely that the knew heads would have an identical defect as
the old.
Has anyone had an issue with bad batches of ink from MIS causing this
kined of problem? I would like to eliminate the ink as a posible
culprate.
Any sugestions/advise (aside from getting a 9600)?
