You could end up with similar issues with Epson inks also. Did you make sure that you looked carefully up there around the head and paper feed area to see if there was any ink build up there that is transfering to the paper? I've had this issue with Epson inks when black ink got built up in the printer and when the paper rubbed across it it transfered to the media.
