I'm new to this group and think this one of the best on the web. I,ve been shooting zone for 30 yrs. I see a few post that say a print should have a range from pure black to pure white. NOT SO. I do mostly landscapes. The only time you would have a pure white is when you have the sun in the image or the specular highlights from some reflection like water ao say chrome. If I,m shooting a shot with thick fog I may not want a value over zone 8 or under 4. So it is not a Rule that you must have that range in every print. Artistic preferences aside.
