Hi Ed, It really all comes down to what level of printing you want to reach, how much effort you're willing to put in, how much you want to spend, etc. IP, is a workable "out of the box" solution; albeit expensive. QTR is a great alternative if you're willing to expend some effort to get good prints. If you really want complete control through creating your own profiles, then IJC/OPM is your choice. Of course, there is always BO printing using MIS Eboni black...can't beat the price on this one! Basically, you'll have to experiment with different tools and techniques to find out what works for you. IMO, no one can really tell you what to use nor should they. Great to see new members on the forum and welcome to the world of digital B&W print making. I've been getting more and more into B&W digital photography since I started this hobby. I have Photoshop, and I was able to find a great deal on a used Epson 2200. I later bought Imageprint 5.6 for XP (upgraded to 6.0 without serious problems) because of problems I had when printing B&W. The change was greatly beneficial, but is this a setup that you experts would use? I guess my question is: Starting with the Epson 2200, what would be my best software/ink/paper combination if I used my 2200 as a dedicated B&W printer? Cost is a definite factor because I don't do this for a living.
