Digital BW, The Print

I just got the UT inkset for my 1160, d'loaded the latest Epson OS X driver, and have tried 
the Roark curves. The resulting print is very strange, and shows the weird posterization of 
the curve applied file, although obviously not in color.

I'm wondering several things:

1. What are the UT3k curves?
2. Why does the driver not show the usual Epson settings?

For example, I can't select No Color Adjustment, there are options for dither which are 
very reminiscent of the GIMP-Print options, and there is an option for Quadtone under Ink 
Type. There are 2 menus for Expert Settings 1 & 2, which contain unfamiliar options. I've 
never seen an Epson driver pane look anything like this.

I followed the suggested workflow as closely as possible, but the resulting image is 
garbage - too faint, and posterized.

I have a suspicion that I'm going to have to print under Classic, which I really wanted to 
avoid. Does anyone have any input?
