I can respect your bad experience with the 4500, but I must say that 
Nikon seems to have done a pretty good job with the 8000. I've made 
about 20 scans with it and so far so good. (using it at a local shop, 
not mine)   I might be worried about customer service though, since 
they are back ordered they might start to get snooty; they can afford 
to turn customers away at this point.

That might change now that the Minolta is out and looking okay as well.
