Barbara,

Instead of copy/paste to get your copyright symbol you can do it 
right in Photoshop, just hold down the Alt key and type 0169 and 
that'll give you a copyright symbol in whatever font you've chosen. 
If you need a "registered" symbol it's Alt 0174.
