He said he never 'enlarged' or cropped', but he was known to take negatives and enlarge sections, and make new negatives out of them (cropped). That way he could say that he never cropped.... Also, some of the 'yellowing' in the old Weston prints is from the 'Butcher's Wax' that he coated his prints with, for the 'luster'.
