Sam,
I´ve got the feeling that you know much more than you show.
Anyway, you´re right of course.
The Cone driver on the 1160 is much quicker than the  Epson 
driver on the 1290 with 2880 dpi (which are not absolutely 
necessary, 1440 are enough). 
If you know the speed of the updated Cone driver for the 3000 - 
you have an impression.......it is raaaaaather sloooooo.....w.
