I understood the 7600/9600 setup differently.  The initial carts that
come w/the printers are special.  These printers can run either dye or
pigments.  When someone orders a dye version, the initial dye carts are
slipped into the door on the box.  Same for the pigment version.  The
black carts don't have this special programming.
